In anticipation of the menswear season, budding menswear designer, Ama Ariol has released its second ready-to-wear collection.
Said to be inspired by the numerical order that places 1 as a doer, creative head of the brand, Adebayo Aiyeola, dives into the philosophy of 1 in relation to our lives as human persons and how its character takes a special place as the primal force from a figurative angle.
According to the young menswear designer,
“The number 1 is minimal, powerful and symbolic. The 1 is a doer, a powerful force that produces results and does not allow anything or anyone to limit its potential. The 1 is aggressive, a necessary energy for creating and producing. The 1 is always in the forefront; a sparepoint directing and leading others. The Shape of number 1 walks upright with strength, pride, purpose and determination.”
The collection features very simple pieces (pieces that could easily be labelled androgynous the minute its styled with a pair of stilettos) with well thought out design details that have a bit of retro underlining in subdued palette. The narrative features international top model, Queen Onyemaechi as the face of its Dry 16/17 collection.
Simplicity is the ultimate form of Sophistication and Ama Ariol has portrayed that with its seasonal narrative of “We Can All Be 1”.
